Quality teaching  compulsory basic training (CBT) in the Hastings, Bexhill and Sussex/kent area

To us, You are More than, just a number!

Sarah was so relaxed with her training at 1066 she decided to have a quick break on our tyre wall!!

Kick start your Motorcycling adventure at 1066 CBT Training. We are friendly, patient and understanding. Our instructors are fully qualified and ready to teach you the necessary skills to prepare you for riding on the road for the first time. We start your training in our large, safe and secure purpose-designed training area. We have a large selection of bikes and scooters to fit tall and vertically challenged riders, we even have a 125 Vespa T5!

Not only do we want you to enjoy learning to ride a motorcycle/moped, we also hope you have a really fun day with us.

CBT’s can be worked on different levels - for complete novices, full in depth explanations will be used, for those who can already ride Q&A techniques are used, we always set the level of instruction to suit the individual.

What is CBT? Who needs to do one?

I will try to explain this in plain English: Follow the link to the DSA web site, they are the governing body who set the criteria. www.DSA.gov.uk

CBT stands for Compulsory Basic Training. Compulsory, anyone wanting to ride a motorcycle or moped has to do a CBT (the only exception is, if you have held a full car licence from before 1996, you can ride a moped (49cc) without a CBT). For anybody else who wants to ride a 125 or scooter they WILL need to do a CBT but don’t worry it is not a test! It is a training program and you will learn all riding skills starting with the basics:

Once we have done this we can go into junction procedures. We have our yard all road marked to simulate real road junctions, it really helps getting you ready for the road.

Our last exercise is the controlled stop, we learn this just in case something pulls out or runs in front of us and we have to stop quickly and under control.

Once all the practical exercises are finished there is a session on road theory (don't worry, we do most of the talking and there is no writing!). The most fun part of the day is the road ride. We are out on the road for a couple of hours using all the new skills you have learnt in the training area, putting them to good use in real life situations, you will be followed by us and by using our 2way radio we are able to guide and help you though your road ride.

The best part: “well done you have completed your CBT training and we can now issue your CBT certificate!”

A. No, We are trained to teach complete novice riders, we have all the equipment and facilities to teach you in a safe and secure environment. ( but you must be able to ride a bicycle,)

Q. What if I don’t finish my CBT in one day will I have to pay more?
A. No, although we are a commercial business, safety is our main priority!
You can keep coming back until you finish your CBT course, you pay no extra!

Q. Does the price include bike hire?
A. Yes, The price includes unlimited training for CBT, Bike/Moped hire, protective clothing, helmets, jackets, gloves and tea and coffee. There are no hidden extras.

Q. When do we undertake our CBT courses?
A. We are a full time CBT school, we undertake CBTs 6 days a week, (Mon to Sat) start time 8.30.

Q. I have done a CBT before, do I need to do a whole day’s course?
A. No, if you are renewing your CBT, you will still need to do all the exercises and a 2 hr road ride, but we can do them late afternoons! Normally it takes about 3 hrs.

Q. Do we do CBT taster sessions?
A. The CBT is a course designed to teach the novice to ride, so we believe it would be negligent to omit vital parts of it in a watered down version.
